Week
5 assignment: Supporting Learning and Leadership with Technology
The
following paper is going to discuss PLO 8 “demonstrate the ability to make
informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and
leadership.” Then a redesign of a prior activity that uses instructional design
principles and theory will be discussed.
When choosing the proper technology that best suits the lesson and/or
learning goals is very important. As we
know there are many different resources are available and at times can be
overwhelming. According to Lever-Duffy
& McDonald (2011), “Technology can truly enhance a lesson, but it can also
impede learning if it is not used appropriately.”
When
it comes to the use of technology in lessons it can be overwhelming to the
students as well. When using the wrong
type of technology, the information that is being presented to the students may
not make sense and can cause the students to struggle to succeed in the
course. The lesson that is going to be
redesigned required the students to use technology, but needs to be redesigned
better. The lesson is that of one that I
had created for another course in my mock classroom.

For
this assignment, I would like you to share who your favorite historical figure
is. Things to remember to share in your assignment are why you have chosen this
person. Were they one of the presidents of the United States, did they do
something such as Rosa Parks and stand up for the rights of African Americans? Also,
please include how you would have felt living in this era. Can you imagine how
different things would have been, what things that we take for granted now that
were not available then.

For
this assignment, I would like you to share who your favorite historical figure

assignment should be completed by making a PowerPoint presentation. There should be a minimum of 6 slides
(including the title and reference slides).
Each slide should have a title on it and no less than 5 bullet
points. Also, remember to include
speaker notes on each slide. You also
have the option to add graphics/clip art to each of the slide to make it more
appealing to the eye. If you choose you
can also add audio to your presentation.

The
assignment was revised to help meet PLO 8 “demonstrate the ability to make
informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and
leadership.” I felt that the first
assignment was a good assignment, but the addition of having the students turn
it into a PowerPoint presentation helped them be more creative and incorporate
a different type of technology into the assignment.
