I would like to welcome you to my portfolio.  I have had a great time not only in EDU/697 Capstone: A Project Approach, but my other courses throughout the MATLT program. I am now at the end of this portion of my educational journey and am excited to be able to help others gain knowledge that I have gained in the last 18 months.  Reach for the stars.

PLO 8 -- Supporting Learning and Leadership with Technology

Week 5 assignment: Supporting Learning and Leadership with Technology The following paper is going to discuss PLO 8 “demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership.” Then a redesign of a prior activity that uses instructional design principles and theory will be discussed.   When choosing the proper technology that best suits the lesson and/or learning goals is very important.   As we know there are many different resources are available and at times can be overwhelming.   According to Lever-Duffy & McDonald (2011), “Technology can truly enhance a lesson, but it can also impede learning if it is not used appropriately.” When it comes to the use of technology in lessons it can be overwhelming to the students as well.   When using the wrong type of technology, the information that is being presented to the students may not make sense and can cause the students to struggle to succeed in the course.  

PLO 6 & 7 -- Assessment and Evaluation Using Technology

Week 4 assignment: Assessment and Evaluation Using Technology The following paper is going to discuss and demonstrate attainment of PLO 6 “technology resources to facilitate effective assessment and evaluation” and PLO 7 “Utilize technology to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings.”   Then a redesign an activity that uses instructional design principles and theories will be completed. When it comes to knowing if the students are retaining the information that is being taught an effective assessment is the only way to make sure that this is happening.   When looking at the completed assessment the instructor will be able to judge if the students have retained the information.   The instructor then can decide if the information is going to need to be reviewed or if they need to revise their original lesson.   Assessments are used to help the instructor or their lessons be more effective, which is important to the success of their students. O

PLO 5 -- Ethical Practices of Technology Usage

Ethical Practices of Technology Usage The following paper is going to discuss and demonstrate my knowledge of Program Learning Outcome 5, “exemplify ethical practices of technology usage.”   It is going to have a prior MATLT course activity and a redesign of the chosen activity.   I will also be discussion what principles and theories that were chose and why.   Lastly, the paper will discuss any challenges experienced during the redesign process and how they were overcome. When it comes to the privacy and ethical issues they will always be a concern in any public setting.   It is up to those such as the students and instructors to be diligent to continuously monitor those whom are using technology to make sure that they are adhering to the policies and procedures that are in place to protect them.   When it comes to introducing technology into the educational setting there have been several issues that have been introduced.   Some of those issues are different levels of knowl
